About This Blog:

Starting with this blog, I will give you all a sneak-peek of my book by delving into the chapters.

Set in a distant suburb of Bombay in the 1970s, my soon to be published debut novel, a work of literary fiction, comprises 32 chapters.

Book Theme:

The strength to go on when one is at their weakest point speaks volumes about a person and people.

My book focuses on the tough task of converting weakness into strength at various stages of life, and in different forms.

Sneak-Peek:

When Mukta and Prem land in a distant suburb of Bombay with four young daughters, they have nothing except for their vision and a dream of a better future for their daughters.

Nurturing a few rosy images of a glorious life, they imagine the family going on outings, dining in fancy restaurants, and shopping for good clothes in the main market.

To attain that bit of life, the couple does not realise the sacrifices they will need to make.

After all, what is so great about having a good life if they can work for it? This is the question Mukta imagines with a smile.

They know hard work, and being from the farming community, they understand what it really means.

Armed with endless dreams and a desire to work hard, the couple is raring to take the first step into their new home.

The couple, although not rich in money, came from a place where they had the freedom to breathe free, fresh air and live in a large mud home.

The sight of their new 10X10 ft abode introduces Mukta to the harsh reality of life.

A few hours after arranging their meager belongings and settling down, Mukta reaches the verandah to keep her husband, Prem, company.

Too many worries occupying the mind causes it to overlook many things.

Mukta, sitting beside her husband for the first time since reaching the house that afternoon, was taking in the outside surroundings.

Turning to look for the source of the raw sewage stench, Mukta finds it flowing right beneath their window.

With unsanitary living conditions, no source of income, and with some money that threatened to get depleted the moment they touched it, Mukta steps back inside her home.

The first step in the struggle on that huge ladder of problems and challenges thus starts for the matriarch of the family.
